Have you been receiving virus messages or warnings?

Many people have been receiving warning messages on their PCs. These are normally fake messages stating that the computer may have been or is at risk of being infected by a virus or spyware.

The message normally advises you to download a piece of software or to click on a link to initiate a scan in order to remove the problem. They are sometimes asking for a payment for an anti virus subscription

Please note that these pop-ups/messages will appear in a web browser window and are most often fake and designed to trick you into believing that there is an actual problem with your PC.

These messages often use names such as Windows Anti Virus, PC Spyware remover, PC defender etc.

Please do not click on any links or download the softwrae that is recommended. In doing this you will increase your chance of your PC being infected by the virus and this will cause you more problems with your PC.
